Obituary

Funeral services for William Joseph Harp, age 77 of Flintville, will be conducted Monday, June 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with J.P. Steel officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Mr. Harp passed away Monday June 13, 2016 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Mr. Harp was a native of California and the son of the late Joseph and Jane Lewis Harp. He was a retired captain with the U. S. Army and served as the Lincoln County Veterans Officer for ten years. Mr. Harp was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, the Vietnam Veterans of America and rode with the Currahee’s as Road Captain.

Survivors include his step-son Kyle (Lynn) Lewter of Petersburg, grandchildren Skyler, Shelby and Shaylee Lewter of Petersburg, two great-grandsons Kale and Kylen, companion Betty Harbin of Flintville and all Lincoln County Veterans.

Visitation with the family will be Monday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

    For years as I was growing up you were my hero in uniform. You made my dad so happy when you got together. You were there for our family when my dad past as the brave and wonderful man you were. Now you have a wonderful family in Tennessee and I as still so proud of the way you lived your life in serve and love to all you knew. Now I know you are with my dad in heaven telling all your military stores. Love and miss you.
