Funeral services for Mr. Melvin D. Goode, Sr., age 69, of Fayetteville, will be conducted at 1 PM Monday at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Malcolm Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery beside his wife Janice Goode who died in 1993. Mr. Goode passed away Saturday evening, October 18, 2008, in Holly Pond, Alabama.

A native of Lincoln County, he was a son of the late James Nelson and Stacie Swinford Goode, formerly employed in car sales, and a member of Berea Baptist Church in Athens, AL.

Survivors include 2 daughters Lana Goode Byrd of Holly Pond, AL and Dana Goode Shields of Athens, AL, step- son Patrick Lawrence of Athens, AL, 2 sons Melvin Goode, Jr. of Fayetteville and Gregory Goode of Athens, AL, brother Paul Goode of Fayetteville and sister Brenda Goode of Fayetteville, 14 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

Visitation with the family will be from 10 AM-1 PM Monday at Higgins Funeral Home.
