Funeral service for Mary Sue Mitchell Welch, age 82, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 1 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Sue was born on April 16, 1937 in Fayetteville, TN. She was a graduate of Fayetteville Central High School. Mrs. Welch worked as a Farmer, was an Administration Assistant with the Department of Defense, and worked as a tax preparer with H & R Block. Sue made sure to stay busy, she served on the Board of Directors with Farm Credit Services of Mid-America, and AgriBank. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and worked with the 4-H Club of Lincoln County. Mrs. Welch also served on the board of the Lincoln County Fair Association, the Lincoln County Planning Commission, and was Chairman of the Board with Rose Hill Cemetery Association. Sue passed away on June 7, 2019 at her residence.
Survivors include her son, Jefferson (Jennifer) Welch of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Phylis Welch of Gainesville, FL, grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Shell, Amanda (Brad) Olshenske, Trey Welch, Brendan Helt, and Jeramie Welch; and great-grandson, Benjamin Shell, and Alexander Shell. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, George Bomar and Bessie Sylvester Kent Mitchell-Bomar; husband, Philip Welch; and a brother, James Henry Mitchell.

I also served with Sue on the AgriBank Board. Sue was such a sweet and caring lady, I always looked forward to visiting with her at meetings. And while I know she cared about the business we were in, I always felt that she cared even more about the people she served with. I am saddened to hear of her passing.
I had the pleasure of serving with Sue on the AgriBank Board id Directors. In addition to being a wonderful board member, she was an exceptionally caring, sweet person. She showed that caring to my wife Alice and I when I was having parts changed in my ticker. She brought smiles and happiness to all of us. I feel her smiling now. Hugs Sue. Doctor Tom?
Jeff and Phylis. Sue ( and your Dad, Phillip) were so good to us and our children when we started showing sheep in the 4-H program. We developed a good friendship and always appreciated their love and nurturing spirits. We were so blessed to be associated with such a gracious Southern Christian lady as Sue.
