Obituary

JoAnn Warren, age 67, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019 at her home in Flintville. JoAnn was born June 17, 1952 to the late Edgar L. Quick and Nellie Ruth Roberson Quick Crabtree. She is also preceded in death by her stepfather, Virgil H Crabtree; her brother, Johnny Carl Quick; and her daughter, Beverly Taylor Gray.

Ms. Warren is survived by her daughter, Crystal Gail Taylor Brown of Fayetteville, TN; sister and brother-in-law, June & Ricky Simmons of Flintville, TN; sister-in-law, Janie Quick of Flintville, TN; and her great-grandchildren, Avery, Ryder, & Aubree Simmons of Normandy, TN and Hadlee Warren of Fayetteville, TN. JoAnn was loved by a host of nieces and nephews: Jonathan & Katie Simmons of Murfreesboro, TN, Renee & Chris Lawson of Meridianville, AL, Carla & Al Gault of Flintville, TN, Angie & Jared Bradley of Elora, TN, and Edie & David Martin of Hazel Green, AL. Additionally, JoAnn was cherished by a host of close family and friends: Tommy & Vickie Taylor; uncle and aunt Malcom & Yvonne Quick of Lilburn, GA, aunt Julia Quick of Flintville, aunt Phyllis Fohner and uncle Buck Roberson of Huntsville, AL; cousins, Robin & Bill Shelton, Ava Kimbrough, Max & Sheila Quick, Van & Lee Quick of Flintville, TN; Connie & Allen Kirkland, Allen & Judy Crabtree, Harry & Joyce Crabtree of Fayetteville, TN; Wade Quick & Melanie Herring of Smyrna, TN; Traci & Steve Green of Atlanta, GA; along with many, many more great nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins.

JoAnn was an admirable and loyal employee to Goodman, retiring after 36 years of service. Dear sweet Jo Ann, our family has always been scattered hither and yon but your mother made certain we never lost touch with each other. After she passed, you picked up where she left off. Yours and Crystal’s visits to Aunt Shirley made her day. I will always remember you calling and asking “How’s my Unk?” And I always knew exactly which uncle you were asking about–sometimes it was Uncle Jack and sometimes Uncle Buck. You never hung up the phone without saying ” Tell Mike and Robyn I love them. ” After my surgery you called repeatedly asking what you could do to help me. If you had had the time, energy and money you would have taken care of all of us. So, on behalf of cousins Mike, Robyn, Dion, Debbie, Bill, Ken, Uncle Buck and me, YOU WILL BE MISSED! Rest in Peace.

I was so sorry to hear about JoAnn’s passing. I will never forget the first time my friends and I saw her on the first day of our senior year in the fall of 1974. We assumed that she was a new teacher but found out that she was going to be a student just like us. We immediately loved her and she fit right in at our school. It didn’t matter that she was married with a daughter and was five years older, she was one of us. We were lucky to have her as a classmate. Her maturity helped us when we were thinking about doing something outrageous and she would carefully explain to us why we shouldn’t do it and then sometimes she would be right beside us as we did something ridiculous and laughing all the way. I didn’t realize at the time how brave JoAnn was for going back to school to get her diploma. She was a wonderful friend. I’m sure she is in heaven having a reunion with Beverly, her mom, and Johnny.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss, there are just no words, just feeling heart sick. JoAnn was such a kind, loving, compassionate person. Just the time I had with her which was far too seldom, I knew why she was so special and so loved by so many! Again, I am so sorry for the anguish you feel in your hearts at the loss of her physical presence but rejoice with you in the hope and and conviction of God’s promises. (No more disappointments , no more sorrow, no more pain, no more tears)
