Funeral services for Dorothy JoAnn Barnes Jacobs, age 79, of Fayetteville will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. James Barnes and Bro. Cleo Moon officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Jacobs went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2016. She was born in Lincoln County to the late Herman Lee Barnes and Beulah Mae Patterson Ashby on July 16, 1936. She worked as a CNA at Donalson Care Center for many years. She enjoyed church, singing, flowers and being with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Jacobs was a member of Brogan Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Jacobs; a son Danny Jacobs; and two brothers Bobby Barnes and John Wesley Prince.
Mrs. Jacobs is survived by a daughter Cindy (Steve) Rush of Keslo; sons Wayne (Teresa) Jacobs, Steve (Patricia) Jacobs and Glen (Gina) Jacobs all of Fayetteville; grandchildren Kristen (Eric) Meyer of Cincinnati, OH, Amanda (Chris) Whaley of Flintville, Michael (Shea) Jacobs, Candice Jacobs, Jason (Melanie) Jacobs, and Kenny (Elizabeth) Russell all of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren Zachary Meyer, Erica Meyer, Jaxon Whaley, Maicee Whaley, Landen Jacobs, Emma Jacobs, Nora Jacobs, Daniel Jacobs, Chloe Jacobs, and Zoey Russell; a sister Mary Lee (Tommy) Keith of Kelso; brothers James (Patsy) Barnes of Fayetteville, David (Elaine) Moore of Flintville, and Oliver (Gail) Prince of Lavergne, TN.
Visitation with the family will be 5 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lincoln Medical Hospice 1797 Wilson Parkway, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

Joann was such a wonderful caring woman. I will miss seeing her. I’m so glad I got to see her at the hospital not long ago when Cindy had her up there. We got to talk and catch up. I loved working with her at the nursing home she taught me so much. I’m sorry for your loss. I want be able to make the funeral but know I’m thinking about you all.
I could not have been more blessed to have met this kind and gentle soul. It truly was a privilege to have even ever had the opportunity to know her. I love and miss you JoAnn.

Aunt Joann was a wonderful woman. She had a beautiful soul. She always had a smile and hug every time I saw her.

JoAnn was a special lady with a heart of love. Precious memories of childhood at Brogan Ave Baptist Church. I always thought of her during this time of year since she is the one who encouraged me at Vacation Bible School. Prayers for her family as they strive through this time.

Oh my, the great memories I have of this wonderful lady! She was strong, loving , and compassionate and took great care of all those that worked with her! Rest in peace Ms. JoAnn. Prayers for the family.
