Obituary

Graveside funeral service for Mrs. Anna Ruth McAlister Marshall, age 92, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 10 AM on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, with Dr. Jon Hathcock officiating.

Anna was born on December 25, 1925 in Lincoln County, TN to the late J.W. and Agnes Moore McAlister. She had worked with Serbin Fashions. Mrs. Marshall enjoyed reading, crosswords and crocheting. She was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church, and loved music, where she sang with the Y.Y.’s (Yesterday’s Youths). Mrs. Marshall passed away on December 22, 2018 at Bailey Manor.

Survivors include her daughter, Karon Smith and husband Aubrey of Fayetteville, TN; grandson, Jason Smith and wife Erika of Coppell, TX; granddaughter, Andrea Evans and husband Bradly of Fayetteville; great-granddaughters, Addison and Cheyenne Evans; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Joel Marshall; brothers, Herman, Knox, and Carl McAlister; and sisters, Alberta Smith, Rachel Smith, Nettie Moffett, Inez Hopkins, Bertha Hopkins, Gracie Drennon, and Juell Young.

Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

    Karin, I am one of the ones with Lindsay Lane Baptist church in Athens that visited Mrs. Anna for many years at Covenant Manor. She wad a delightful lady. We will miss her. Prayers for your family.
