Charles is the grandson of Hiram C. Higgins, founder of Higgins Funeral Home, and son of Philip M. Higgins the second generation owner. Charles has been with the funeral home since 1972 as the third generation owner for 35 years.
|Clay Higgins – Owner
Clay, son of Charles Higgins, returned to Fayetteville in 2001 from Colorado as the fourth generation owner of Higgins Funeral Home. He is a graduate of Abilene Christian University where he graduated in 1992. After completing his certification in funeral directing and embalming at the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service he completed his requirements to become licensed in both disciplines. After working in the tech industry in Colorado, Clay and his wife Amy decided to move to Fayetteville to work in the family business and raise their two children, Hunter and Lucy.
|Tommy Sisk – Family Care Assistant
Tommy has been a part of Higgins Funeral Home since 1972. Tommy is a native of Lincoln County, a graduate of Central High School, and an Elder at the Liberty Church of Christ. He is married to Becky Sisk. They have one son Whitney.
|Elizabeth Sloan – Office Manager
Elizabeth joined Higgins Funeral Home in the Fall of 1982. She is a native of Lincoln County, a graduate of Central High School and a member of the Mimosa Church of Christ. She is married to Walter Sloan. They have two sons, Larry and David and three grandsons, Tanner, Levi, Dylan, and Tessa.
|Walter Sloan – Funeral Director / Embalmer
Walter began his funeral service career in 1968 and has been a licensed Funeral Director since 1981 and a licensed embalmer since 1985 receiving an Associate of Science in Funeral Service from Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama. He received the accreditation from the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards in 1985.Walter is the husband of Elizabeth Sloan, father of Captain Larry Sloan, Rutherford County Fire & Rescue and Captain David Sloan, Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department and the grandfather of Tanner, Levi, Dylan and Tessa Sloan. He is an Elder of the Mimosa Church of Christ.
|Hope DeJarnatt – After Care Counselor
Hope started with Higgins Funeral Home in 2009. She is a native of Lincoln County, and a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ. She is married to Dr. Dan DeJarnatt. They have two children, Drew Ivey and Laura Stevens.
|Sherri Haislip – Funeral Assistant
Sherri started with Higgins Funeral Home in 2005. She is a native of Lincoln County and a graduate of Central High School. She is married to Ricky Haislip. They have two children, Marissa thornton and and Carmen Haislip.
|Robert Strope – Funeral Assistant
Robert started with Higgins Funeral Home in 2008. He is a native of Lincoln County, a graduate of Flintville High School and is a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. He served as the Fire Chief in Fayetteville for 30 years. He has four children Tony Strope, Jennifer Strope Stanly, Sammy Whitworth and Scott Whitworth.
|Christy Roberts – Funeral Director/Front Office
Christy joined Higgins Funeral Home in 2012. She is a native of Madison County, AL, and a graduate of Lincoln County High School. She has two sons, Scott and Christopher and two grandsons Hadyn and Chevy.
|Jayson Davis – Family Service Counselor
Jayson joined the Higgins Funeral Home in 2010 and is a licensed insurance agent for the state of TN. He takes great pride in helping families avoid added during the loss of a loved one through the prearrangement process. Jayson is a native of Franklin County and attended Franklin County High school, Motlow State Community College and Middle Tennessee State University. He and his three children live in Estill Springs. He is a member of the Winchester Baptist Church and is actively involved in community service and plays a vital role in the Suicide Awareness Movement in Southern Middle Tennessee.
|Christopher Ross, CFSP – Funeral Director / Embalmer
Chris joined the Higgins Funeral Home in 2014 and is part of our Complete Care program. He is a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer and Licensed Insurance Agent for the State of Tennessee. Chris has earned the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP), by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP). He also has his Crematory Operators Certification from the Cremation Association of North America, Licensed Preneed Agent in Tennessee, and his Mortuary Science License for the State of Michigan.
Chris is married to Rachel of Lawrence County, Tennessee. He is an active member of the Fayetteville Lions Club, Southern Middle Tennessee MAD SAM Leadership Team, Tennessee Funeral Directors Association, NFDA, and APFSP.
He is a native of Laingsburg, Michigan and a 2007 graduate of Laingsburg High School. He graduated Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan in 2009 and Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Illinois in 2010.
